- Born to Liette Valiris, a baker, Aethel had a humble upbringing. She and her mother lived alone in the outskirts of a small town, selling bread and rolls to the townsfolk. Because of their Bosmeri heritage, they were always regarded with slight distrust, but made a decent living nonetheless. When Aethel was 13 years old, a group of bandits raided their house and killed her mother. She managed to escape unscathed, and has been alone ever since.
