Unfortunately, with every visit Whimsicott’s tales of misfortune at the hands of Fairy Poachers grew more and more desperate, each lucky escape from their greedy clutches more harrowing than the last.
Tiny fairies were easier to capture in bottles and use as objects, so the smaller the fairy, the more interested Poachers became in hunting them down for their magic. This did not bode well for Whimsicott.
Novel could tell that Whimsi’s luck was running out, and the next time she encountered these Poachers she might not succeed in evading them.
To remedy this misfortune, Novel made the offer for Whimsi to return to Lush Lake with her. Whimsicott was...not as receptive to this idea as Novel assumed she’d be.
Whimsicott remembered Nacre the Royal Paffuto when the ex-royalty first stumbled upon the Fairy Grove, and the Gonk was not impressed by her character. Whimsi viewed Nacre to be just as greedy as the Fairy Poachers, a rotten liar who tricked Novel and was only in it for herself.
While Nacre was not the easiest pet to get along with, Novel assured the little Earth Fairy Gonk that there were more pets around now, some of which that could easily stand up to Nacre whenever she got too big of an ego.
Whimsicott was still not convinced, but reluctantly agreed to go back with her friend after Novel mentioned how much the other pets would appreciate her ability to grow fresh food and cook. Whimsi had prided herself in her gardening skills, and so wished to share what she grew with others!
Many fairies around Marada live solitary lives, even the tiny ones, it’s just their culture...But the opportunity to meet new people who would aid in keeping Whimsi safe was just too appealing to turn down.
