Crystals

14th Aug 2007 17:11 Yeah, another idiot posted on a freinds board that 4k per crystal is overpriced. So I kinda stole a freinds blog for anyone who buys my crystals.

So a lot of people seem to be complaining about crystal prices lately, specifically the ones proposed by those hard-working 'crystalliers' who like to sell in massive quantities often reaching one thousand. I'll address it now.
The argument outlined for justifying asking prices is normally two-pronged. Firstly, it's convenient in that it saves time as opposed to tediously buying up 71 of each crystal from Shop Search. Secondly, buying 71 of each crystal from Shop Search will inevitably result in inflation anyways. Now let's examine the flimsy counter arguments which people offer for this, shall we?
a.) It takes less time to buy off of Shop Search.
Does it really? It's one thousand crystals. Even if you do find a shop with 71 of each crystal in it and choose to buy them by refreshing, I guarantee the tediousness of it will catch up with you. The crystalliers aren't complaining about doing the quests, and I guarantee that the one thousand of them which it took to generate the crystals definitely required more patience. Even if it does take less time to buy it off of Shop Search, in the grand scheme or things, what's a few more minutes? Don't be petty.
b.) Buying 71 crystals off of Shop Search is cheaper.
That may be true. But only for the first 71 of each crystal. I challenge each and every person who expresses interest in purchasing the lot of a thousand crystals to buy them off of Shop Search when they find they don't like the asking price of the bulk seller. I can almost guarantee you that if the number of people interested in the crystallier's lot of one thousand decided to buy off of Shop Search, you'd scarcely find a crystal below 100k.
c.) Bulk sellers should discount.
I have no idea where this ridiculous concept came from, but I hope it goes back there and never returns. People who are selling items at discounted prices if purchased in bulk either:
- are extremely nice
- feel they are in dire need of funds
- don't like the items they're selling
Consider yourself extremely lucky if you find a bulk seller willing to discount. Remember that they're not obligated to discount, much in the same way that you're not obligated to buy for their prices. That translates simply to, "They're not forcing you to buy the items, so let them charge what they want."
The next time you feel like criticizing someone's asking price for a batch of one thousand crystals, make sure that you have your own batch of one thousand that you're selling for cheaper. If you still feel the need to criticize even without selling your own batch of one thousand at least show that you're not a hypocrite--voice your opinion whenever you see ANY item that you feel a seller is overcharging for. After all, you can't be selective if you're trying to be righteous. If you don't want to do either of those things, then I sincerely hope that you reconsider making any kind of comment that doesn't involve well-wishing or serious offers.
