Tangletail's Story
16 years & 27 days ago
19th Oct 2008 10:12

Okay, I have just recently finished Smokepaw's Story after two months! Woo-hoo!!! But, I'm not free(Aww....). A few of my friends have requested that I make a new story about one of my favorite charries-Tangletail. So, I have decided to, and now you will learn more about my WindClan charries lives, and a few new ones, too. So, without further ado, I give you, Tangletail's story.
(NOTE: Just like Smokepaw's Story, I will type this WHEN I AM ONLINE. I may get twelve paragraphs or two sentences done in one day, so I will tell you when the entire thing is finished.)

Tanglepaw ran out of the apprentice's den, her bright ginger fur shining in the morning sunlight. She spotted her mentor, Mossflower, just padding out of the warrior's den. Giving one of her dark orange stripes a lick, Tanglepaw bounded over to her mentor, her olive green eyes shining with excitement.
"Hi, Mossflower!" Tanglepaw mewed excitedly.
Mossflower purred, her dark green eyes full of happiness. "Hello, Tanglepaw. I'm guessing you want to go out hunting?"
Tanglepaw nodded. Early-morning hunting was one of her favorite activities. She usually hunted with her sister, Creampaw, and her mentor, Milkear, but Creampaw had seemed really tired the night before, so Tanglepaw decided to let her sleep.
Mossflower smiled. "Alright then," she said, beckoning Tanglepaw to follow with the flick of her tail. "Let's go then." Excited, Tanglepaw bounded after her mentor.

That morning, they caught five plump rabbits. Tanglepaw was especially proud, for she caught three of them.
Once back in the WindClan camp, Tanglepaw grabbed one of the rabbits for herself. She saw Creampaw in the clearing playing with on of the other apprentices, Twigpaw. When she caught Creampaw's eye, she beckoned her over with her tail, showing her the rabbit. Creampaw said something to Twigpaw and bounded over to her sister, her eyes wide.
"Did you catch that all by yourself?" Creampaw asked, staring at the overly fat rabbit in disbelief.
Tanglepaw smiled with pride. "Yep," she said, wearing a collosal grin on her face.
Without further question, Creampaw buried her face in the rabbit, completely devouring it. Tanglepaw laughed and began eating the rabbit as well.
That's when Tanglepaw's world turned around. Milkear had come back from her patrol with Lightningpelt and Wingedheart. Maplestar was padding over to Milkear, probably to greet her sister. Tanglepaw was just able to make out their discussion.
"Hello, Milkear. Anything of interest?"
Milkear looked around and padded a little closer to Maplestar. "The kittypets have been coming out into our territory," she murmured quietly.
Maplestar stared at her, her eyes wide. "But...they never come leave their homes!"
"Well, some adventurous ones have started to. Soon, others will begin to follow, and then, who knows what!"
Maplestar just stared at her deputy. "What can we do?"
Milkear shook her head. "I don't know. But we'll have to decide soon." She padded away, leaving an awestruck Maplestar standing in the clearing.
Feeling a sudden urge to help, Tanglepaw walked over to Maplestar. "I could try and convince them to stay in their Twoleg nests if you want," Tanglepaw told her with a smile.
Maplestar seemed to be in thought for a moment, then nodded. "Alright, Tanglepaw. I know how persuasive you can be, so I'll trust you with this." She paused. "Just...don't do anything you don't have to do," her leader added hastily.
"Thank you, Maplestar! I won't let you down!" Tanglepaw replied with a colossal grin. And with that, she bounded past her and into the moor.
After a while of traveling across the plains, Tanglepaw began traveling past the several trees, her tail held high, her bright green eyes filled with excitement. A few Twoleg nests had been built near the camp a season or two ago, though the Twoleg kits were far to young to venture out into the woods, which was a major relief to the Clan.
When she was only a few foxlengths away from the Twoleg nests, Tanglepaw realized that she probably should have brought Mossflower, or at least her sister. Now, she was all alone. Taking a deep breath, Tanglepaw proceeded foward to a large white Twoleg nest. She had never been this close to a Twoleg nest before, so Tanglepaw was pretty nervous, as if she took one more pawstep, a Twoleg would come running out and scream at her.
All of a sudden, Tanglepaw heard the sound of one of the Twoleg doors opening. Quickly, she darted into a bush and hid.
A few seconds later, a cat jumped up onto the fence. He was around Tanglepaw's age, and had fluffy white fur and a long tail. He leaped down onto the forest floor below and began padding in the direction of the WindClan camp.
Alarmed, Tanglepaw jumped out of her hiding place and directly in front of the kittypet. She would not have a kittypet entering her territory.
The kittypet had blue eyes; Tanglepaw noticed due to the fact that they became extremely large with shock and fear. "Where do you think you're going?" she asked the kittypet.
The kittypet took a step back, his eyes fixed on Tanglepaw's, not daring to let his guard down. "I-I was just e-exploring a little bit."
"Why, might I ask?" Tanglepaw asked him, her voice a little bit softer, but still with the same defensiveness.
"Some of my f-friends were telling me about the woods," he told her, flicking his head in the direction of two white Twoleg nests. "I was curious, so I decided to come out here myself."
He lowered his head. "I'm sorry. I didn't know anyone lived out here, honest. I promise I won't come back out here again."
Tanglepaw nodded. "Well, I'll keep you to that promise, then." And with that, she turned around, starting off in the direction of the WindClan camp.
"Wait!"
Tanglepaw turned around to see the kittypet following her, though keeping a fairly good distance away. "What is it?" she asked, puzzled.
The kittypet flicked his ears at her stomach. "Why are you so....thin?"
"Oh, that's because we have to hunt for our food!" Tanglepaw laughed.
"Hunt?" He tilted his head to the side, confused. "You don't just get food?"
"No," she replied, shaking her head. "We hunt and eat what the forest provides for us. We have to earn it. You, on the other hand, get as much food as you can eat daily."
"Wow," the kittypet said, looking at the nearby trees and bushes. "I never thought about that."
He paused, then smiled, beaming at her. "Hey! Why don't you come over to my place real quick! I'm sure my Twolegs would be more than happy to give you something to eat."
Tanglepaw shook her head with a look of disgust. "Thanks, but no thanks. I couldn't and WOULDN'T eat those things that you call FOOD. They look like rabbit droppings!"
"Oh." He paused. "What do you mean you 'couldn't' eat them?" he asked her.
"I have to feed the clan before myself," Tanglepaw answered.
"Clan? What's a clan?"
Tanglepaw sighed. "Kittypet, you've got a lot to learn." She paused for a moment, thinking over what to say. "There are four clans in the forest: ThunderClan, ShadowClan, RiverClan, and WindClan. The forest is divided into four sections, one for each clan."
"Which clan are you from?" asked the kittypet eagerly.
Tanglepaw stood up a little straighter. "I am a part of WindClan."
"Cool!" the kittypet exclaimed. "Where's the clan live?"
Tanglepaw hesitated, not exactly sure of what to say. After a moment of thinking, she pointed her tail in the direction of the camp. The kittypet looked that way with a burning curiosity in his eyes. When he was about to take a step forward, Tanglepaw placed her tail in front of him. "But you must never go there."
"Never?" he asked, gazing at her face, his voice filled with longing.
"Never," she aswered, drawing back her tail. She turned to him. "Do you understand?"
He nodded sincerely. "I promise."
Tanglepaw nodded in approval and turned back to the direction of her camp. The sun was beginning to set, and she needed to get home. "Well, it's about time I got home," she told him, and once more, began walking back to the camp.
"Wait."
Tanglepaw turned around to see the kittypet sitting down, staring at her. "Can I at least know your name?"
"Tanglepaw," she answered him. "May I know yours?"
"My Twolegs call me Cloud," he replied. He paused and stood up. "Bye!" he called to her, then turned around, heading to the Twoleg nest he had come out of. He jumped on top of the white fence, flicked his tail at her in a goodbye gesture, then leaped down.
A strange feeling filled inside of Tanglepaw. She wanted to go inside the nest with Cloud and stay there with him for moons, maybe even seasons. She shook her head, trying to clear such nonsense out of it. She couldn't go be a kittypet! She was a clan cat! Tanglepaw took a few steps forward, then turned her head back to the big white Twoleg nest. Something came over her that made her know that she was going to come back the next day.

By the time Tanglepaw got back to the WindClan camp, the sun had almost disapeared from sight. She had two rabbits along the way, so no one would ask her what she had been up to.
When she was about to enter the apprentices' den, Maplestar came bounding over to her. "Well?" she asked, her voice filled with worry and distress. "Did you ensure that they won't come out again?"
Tanglepaw smiled and nodded. "I can promise you that those kittypets won't leave their Twoleg nests again."
Maplestar sighed with relief. "Thank goodness. I was beginning to worry. Thank you, Tanglepaw. That was a very kind and loyal thing you did today."
Tanglepaw stood up a little straighter. "Don't mention it!" she replied, and headed into the apprentices den.
When she entered, she found her friend Spiderpaw laying awake in her nest. Spiderpaw's head rose when Tanglepaw entered, and her amber eyes blinked with confusion. "Where have you been?" the young apprentice asked.
Tanglepaw looked around, then padded over to her. "I was doing a special assignment for Maplestar," she whispered to her friend.
Spiderpaw's eyes grew wide with suprise and excitement. "Really? What did she ask you to do? Did she ask anyone else?"
"Shhhhh!" Tanglepaw hissed, placing her tail over Spiderpaw's mouth. After a moment of silence, she withdrew her tail. "She asked me to get some kittypets to stop entering the forest. And she asked me alone."
Spiderpaw gasped. "No way!" she exclaimed. "So, what happened?" Spiderpaw asked, this time quieter do to a stern look from her friend.
"Well...," Tanglepaw started, shuffling from paw to paw. "I know that one of them won't leave his Twoleg nest again, and I'm kind of hoping he'll spread the word."
"Oh," Spiderpaw replied. "Okay. Well, did yo-"
The apprentice was interrupted due to Twigpaw running into the den, shortly followed by Creampaw. Twigpaw, not looking where he was going, barreled straight into Tanglepaw, sending the two tumbling to the ground with a thud. Twigpaw lifted his head and blinked twice, then looked down and jumped up in suprise, just noticing that he was on top of his denmate.
"Oh! Tanglepaw! I'm so, so, SO sorry! I should have bee-"
Twigtail was knocked aside by Creampaw. "Move over and be quiet, you mouse-brained clutz." Twigtail lowered his head and obidiently moved aside, letting Creampaw and Spiderpaw get to Tanglepaw.
"Are you alright, Tanglepaw?" asked Spiderpaw.
Tanglepaw stood up and shook herself, trying to get some of the dirt off. "I'm fine," she replied. Tanglepaw turned to Twigpaw with a sympathetic smile. "I'm fine, really."
Twigpaw smiled and dipped his head in an embarrassed fashion. "Oh, well, that's good to hear. Sorry, again." Keeping his head at the same height, Twigpaw padded out of the den.
"That cat is going to be the biggest clutz in the forest if he doesn't try looking where he's going," Creampaw mewed sadly.
Turning away from where the medicine cat apprentice had disappeared, Tanglepaw turned to her sister. "What were you chasing him for, anyways?"
Creampaw shrugged. "He said if I didn't stop eating so much, the clan might mistake me for a Twoleg monster."
Spiderpaw chuckled silently. She was soon silenced by a look from Creampaw.
Tanglepaw sighed. "Creampaw, you seriously have to work on your temper," she told her sister.
Creampaw shrugged once more and padded over to her nest. "Eh, I'll fix it later," she told her sister while laying down. Creampaw let out a large yawn and closed her eyes. "Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to go to sleep." A few seconds later, Creampaw was out.
Tanglepaw and Spiderpaw looked at each other with a gleam of amusement in each of their eyes, then padded over to their nests and layed down, soon falling into a deep sleep.......

The next morining, Tanglepaw was woken by a paw prodding her side. She blinked open to see Spiderpaw standing over her. "What is it?" she asked her friend.
"Whitefoot and I are going out hunting. He wanted to see if you and Mossflower would want to come," Spiderpaw told her.
Tanglepaw jumped up with a purr. "Of course I'll come, mouse brain!"

"Good catch!" Tanglepaw's olive green eyes gleamed with pride as she held a plump rabbit in her jaws. They hadn't had much luck hunting, so her rabbit was practically a blessing.
"Hey, Tanglepaw?" Mossflower asked her apprentice. "Why don't you go hunting near the new Twoleg place? It would be good to see how prey runs there."
Tanglepaw nodded, a gleam of excitement in her eyes. She bolted off across the moorland, her tail flying behind her.
After a minute or two of running, she stopped; she had reached the trees that marked the start of the new Twoleg Place. Tanglepaw turned around; she could just make out three blurred shapes that were Mossflower, Spiderpaw, and Whitefoot. She turned back to the trees, took a deep breath, and walked towards new Twoleg Place.
